Sheep

We have been studying Isaiah and the old testament at school the last couple of weeks. Next week we will start with Psalms. We are going deeper into some of the text and Psalm 23 is one of them. But that is not my point. As we have been looking at different passages it hit me how many times the Bible talks about sheep and the shepherd. Over and over again the Bible tells us about how the sheep go astray and they need someone to bring them to water, and watch over them. You should read psalm 23, that's one of my favorites!
I love sheep,
they are really cool animals,
they are soft and cozy,
you'll find them up in the mountains in the summer,
they give you good company with the bells that are making noise...
Another argument for why I love sheep so much is...
They have wool
and you can use wool for:

...KNITTING!!!

A month ago something strange happend. Someone called my dad, and told him that they had seen some sheep in the mountains...Can you belive it? A sheep with one lamb had survived the winter from October to February out in the snow... That is impressive. My dad and some other people had to rescue them with snowmobiles and bring them back home... So maybe that's a modern picture of the 99 sheep and the one that was lost.

Matthew 18, 12-14
What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost.

God is still looking for sheep that has wandered off, and he loves them all. He is willing to do everything to bring them back.

When I was in Kenya, I was talking about this to people. And it was so great. We would have a sermon just under a tree, and suddenly a shepherd would walk by with his animals, just after I had read from the Bible about sheep and the good shepherd. It was like living illustrations...

At the very end I wanted to show one of my moms new projects. She is making mats to sit on when you are out hiking. They are made of real wool, and she decorates them with patterns. They are really cool!
