My name

I found out what my name means... Aud in norwegian means rikdom, which is translated riches or wealth. It has a Norse origin. In Norway almost every name has a special name day. And nameday for Aud is the 30th of July!!!

I also found a list of famous people with my name. One of them was called Aud the deeply thinking. She left the Orkney Islands in 890 and went to Iceland, where she was an ancestress for the chief family. There is also listed that Aud in the mythology is son of Natt (a guy named Night) and Naglfare (something with a nail). But it must mean that my name was a boyname then... Weird! There is also a famous acter in Norway named Aud Schønemann.

And if you were wondering. There is 13772 people named Aud, and 3931 of these doesn't have any other middle names... There is only one other person in that has exactly the same name as me. Cool!!!

Wednesday the 20th

Today is Wednesday, and it doesn't feel like it at all. My weekdays are all mixed up. Maybe because I usually work in the weekends... lol! Well today I have been painting. Right now I work at Tonstadli, the camp ground/place. They have had a big project to paint all the buildings outside this summer. So I've been painting walls, doors and windows the last couple of days. It's not the most entertaining job, but it's actually very nice. The weather has been so nice and you feel like you enjoy the sun more when you're outside... Maybe it's a norwegian things, since it rains much more here!!! :-)

Tonight we had a meeting at my "church" for young adults. It was very good. Maybe 20-30 attended, which is a lot in my small town. After a devotion and some songs we had icecream and got to hang out for a while. It's kind of like the coffehouse, just without coffe... hehe...

Yesterday I got three more shots for Kenya.... So im getting closer... Im really exited, because next week I get to meet the group Im going with. We are going to have a "get to know each other meeting". But it's very good, because I know one of the girls I'll go to Africa with. She went to the same high school, and I've also been working with her at Tonstadli...

Well. I know the Rogers are on their way to Florida... so im a bit jealous right now. Im sure they will have so much fun!!! Disneyworld rocks...!

I've got you covered

Something really weird happend to me yesterday. Becky and I were trying to weigh her bags, when we found out that the scale was out of battery. So I ran over to the closest gas station, and found the batteries. But when I was about to pay, I couldn't understand a thing. My visa card would not get accepted. So I tried 3 times, and it still didn't work. So I was about to just walk away. When I heard someone behind me say... "Add it to mine, I'll pay for it!" I was very surpriesed and deeply shocked. I've never experienced something like it before. I said she didn't have to do it. But then she said, "you probably need it" And she was right. So I just smiled and told her Tusen takk!!! When I got home, my sister asked me if I really saw her, or if she was just an angel. So, belive it or not. We might do someone a little favour, and think that it's not a big thing. But it really made me think. And today I listened to this song by Phillips, Craig & Dean. It's called I got you covered:

A scene so familiar at the old five and dime
The little boy waited his turn in line
And with eyes so intent he proudly displayed
The candy he’d buy with the money he’d saved

The girl at the counter wasn’t sure what to do
‘Cause the money was less than the price that was due
Then a stranger spoke up from his place in line
Said whatever he’s short just take it and add it to mine

chorus:
I’ve got you covered, I’ll pay the difference
You don’t have to worry at all
Whatever the cost is I’ll go the distance
If you fail, I will catch you
You know I won’t let you feel like you’re there all alone
I’ve got you covered

Sometimes when I look back it’s hard to explain
Just how far I’ve come yet how little has changed
I still long to hold what seems so out of reach
Only to find out it’s not what it seems

I come to the Father alone and afraid
In need of forgiveness yet it’s so far away
I cry out for mercy a child so in need
With a voice of compassion the Father calls out to me

I know what you’re facing, I see where you’re standing
I’m holding all the answers you need
‘Cause no situation will ever take you out of My reach

The swords at Hafsfjord

Today started with a trip to my cousin, and then we went to my old high school to visit Jon. It was his last day at school today. Tomorrow is a big big day for him. He's not only turning 18. It's also his graduation from his highs school. And if that weren't enough. He'll have his driver license test!!! So good luck, little brother. The roads are no longer going to be safe!!!

We brought Jon with us to see a lighthouse and visit a cache. It was pretty neat because the lighthouse was open, because and artist was doing some private pictures there. So we got to see inside of it for free... YEAH!!! I've never been to a real lighthouse before. Though it's not in use anymore.

After that we went to see the three swords at Hafsfjord. It's a monument for a special battle in Norway( about 872 after Christ) There was a big battle where Harald Hårfagre... (he had really pretty hair "Hår-is hair") And he collected all the small kingdoms into one complete Norwegian kingdom... or something like that... History is not my best subject! :-) But they are kind of cool!!!

The last day also went to Stavanger. Thats the biggest city in my area, and we were looking for some suveniers for Becky. It was a little hard to find the things she was looking for, but we found a neat tourist shop in Stavanger. We also went through the old city there, which has the oldest woodhouse neighbourhood in northern Europe. It's very neat looking...
A picture from Stavanger and Mosvatnet in the background...

So tomorrow, I'll drive Becky to the airport. It's been two very nice weeks, and we have had the best weather ever!!! lucky for her... Norway is usually cold and rainy, but we've mostly had sun every day. Good luck on your way back. Hopefully it will work out better this time...

See you later my friend... :-)

Dorgefossen and Lysebotnen

This is Dorgefossen, a big waterfall in my home county. It's used to be very big and beautiful, but because of regulation of the waters, as a consequense of the power stations here, it's no longer full of water. But a lot of tourist stop by and take a look. And it's also cool because they have climbing trips down there. I have never done it, but Gabriel and Ragnhild did. They really liked it, but for Ragnhild it was an painful experience.

This is were we went yesterday, Lysebotnen. It's in the very end of the same fjord, where the pulpit rock is. Lysefjorden. But this time we went on a Sunday trip with my mom and dad. They really wanted to show Becky how beatiful this place is :-)

Anne Berit also came with us. It was very nice. We drove on small curvy roads. To pass someone you need to drive out on the shoulder(or it's not really what you think a shoulder is....It's just the side of the road, so you have to find a spot where you don't get stuck.) I don't really want to drive there. The road is going down a mountain that is very steep, and you drive back and fort. The road kind of look like a snake

Then on the way back up, we stopped at a place that is sticking out above the fjord. It's really cool, you get a feel that you're almost falling down, and you get a really good view. To tease my mom, I climed a little bit on the fence, and she walked away in protests...

On the highest point of the road there is a lot of piles of rocks. When people pass by, they stop and build thoose piles and you can see thousands of them. It's really cool looking

The pulpit rock!!!!

This is Becky standing on the pulpit rock!!!

Yesterday we went hiking to the famous pulpit rock. It's a cliff sticking out 604 m over the ocean. And you can sit or stand on the very top of it. The hike up there is about 2 hours each way, and it's a nice path. I even went swimming in the cold water... It was very refreshing and not that cold when you got used to it... A lot of the hikers stopped and put their fingers in the water when they saw me.

The hike was also very interresting, because we heard so many different languages... Most people that hike up there are tourist visiting Norway.

After we came back down, we went to visit an friend from high school. She is married and has two kids. It was so much fun to see her and play with her babies...

Hiking in the mountains

Today, Becky and I went hiking with my dad today. He was going to do some measures with his job. He is using kind of a gps to find the waypoints for the borders of different properties. So today we were looking for bolts that represented the border of a cabin. Well. It was beautiful weather until we left to go home. And as soon as we left, it started raining. We were planing on going backpacking and camping in a tent tonight. But it's raining so much that we have decided to just go and stay in my families cabin... So, we are packing up our bags and putting all our raingear on!!! Like they used to say in Norway. There is no bad weather, only bad clothing. We might try the fishluck too. So, we'll come back in a couple of days... I was going to put some pictures up, but the computer didn't let me... so i'll put up some later

Becky is here!!!

I haven't heard from her since yesterday night, so im sure she's on a plane now... I'll write later on when she's here!!!

Nobody at the airport...

It's been a very interresting day. When I woke up this morning I didn't know what to expect. The big day when I should pick Becky up at the airport was finally here. So I was hurrying this morning, to get ready to work, and then bring everythig I needed for the car. Well... It didn't turn out that way.

At work I had some episodes with the patients, and I felt like the time went very slow. When a person ask you every minut if you can help them with something you really can't, it's tearing on your patients...! And then when I left work, I was stressed out to get to the airport at the right time. The trafic was very nice, until I got close to the airport. Then suddenly there were cars everywhere... I didn't understand anything. But it turned out that there was an flight show. Planes and fast militeary jets flew in circles and formations up in the air. And later on, I found out that it was a 70 anniversary celebration for the airport. How cool!

Well, I got to the airport and realized that I had a missed call. I saw that it was a Clarksville number, so I thought that Becky might have called. I was wondering if she was already inside the airport looking for me. But no, seconds later she called back. And she was still in Clarksville. The plane out of Nashville was delayed because of bad weather, and the consequenses were that she would be able to connect with her flight in Chicago. So instead of sitting in Chicago for 24 hours, they booked her for the next day, and she'll come tomorrow instead.

I thought it was kind of funny. Poor Becky had to wait for 6 hours at the airport, but it all turned out. I got to see the special show, then I went to visit a friend from high school. It was so much fun. We went shopping. Or it's not quiet right, we went looking for products were the expirations date had expired. It's a special grocery store, where they give you the product for free if you find stuff that are too old. So we found: candies, chocolate and chips for almost 100$... Pretty cool, huh?

Well... I really need to go to bed now. Tomorrow i have to go to work at 7am again, and then Im heading straight to pick up Becky. Hopefully she comes this time!!! Have a good sunday!
