Thankgiving with friends...

I am thankful for all my great friends! Thanks for coming everybody! And thanks for the recipes Karen. Everything turned out great. We had a wonderful "norwegian" thanksgiving with Turkey, stuffings, cranberries, bananabread(yammy!), sweat potatoes casserole and greenbeens. And for dessert I served pumpkin pie with icecream!

Friends!

It's fun to have friends visiting:-) Especially when your tired of studying and just need a break! And then when the weather is just beautiful,then it's time to enjoy the winter outside! :-)

I Thank Thee

"I Thank Thee" is a beautiful Thanksgiving prayer. This Christian poem was originally written by Jane Crewdson (1860) as a prayer of thankfulness to God for all things in life, both the good and the bad, the bitter and the sweet. The poem has also been put to song in a hymn.

I Thank Thee
O Thou whose bounty fills my cup,
With every blessing meet!
I give Thee thanks for every drop—
The bitter and the sweet.

I praise Thee for the desert road,
And for the riverside;
For all Thy goodness hath bestowed,
And all Thy grace denied.

I thank Thee for both smile and frown,
And for the gain and loss;
I praise Thee for the future crown
And for the present cross.

I thank Thee for both wings of love
Which stirred my worldly nest;
And for the stormy clouds which drove
Me, trembling, to Thy breast.

I bless Thee for the glad increase,
And for the waning joy;
And for this strange, this settled peace
Which nothing can destroy.

--Jane Crewdson (1860)

I found this beautiful poem while I was looking for Thanksgiving stuff on the internet. Just wanted to share it with all of you

Im getting ready for thanksgiving...

Look what I found in the store! I couldn't almost belive it! Cranberries from Wisconsin. The world is not as big as I thought it was...

I went shopping yesterday and got a big turkey.Today Anne and I made pumpkinpie...

We also carved the pumpkin and Im going to put a candle in it outside!

This is so much fun! We didn't taste the pie yet, but it smelled really really good, and it reminded me of thanskgiving in Wisconsin! :-) Im really looking forward to having my friends over on Thursday!

Suddenly it was winter...

Yesterday it started snowing, and when I woke up today it was white outside!

Today we had our last class at school. The school had a little gathering with songs, and risengrøt (kind of like ricepudding) for lunch. So in less than two weeks we have our final exam... So i've got a lot of studying to do.

At the way home I stopped at the store and bought some stuff for my thanksgiving celebration. I've decided to celebrate thanksgiving with some of my friends here in Bergen... I found cranberry jam and a pumpkin for pumpkinpie...!

You've got to start early

I guess my task as an aunt is to teach Elise how to knit. She is already interested!But she really wanted to eat the knitting needles instead of knitting with them.

Last time I was in the US I got a lot of yarn from Ashlea, so I decided to make a blanket of it. This is the result. Its 2m x1m(about 6,5x3 feet)big...

The last weeks I've had fun making socks. Really CRAZY colored socks!!!

This is what it looks like when I study and takes some breaks and knit a little at the time...

SO everybody, if you're bored or just need a break...

5th of November

WOW. In less than a month I will be in the states again. Isn't that just fantastic!

Today I've been at work at a childcare center very close to where I live. It's just a part time job, and they just call me if they need someone. The funny thing though was that I got to go to a museum with the kids. They had a field day, and we took the buss into downtown Bergen. I was amazed at the museum, it kind of reminded me of Milwaukee museum, just a bit smaller. They had all kinds of animals(not alive) and skeletons. The kids thought it was so much fun, and I enjoyed it as well. The funny thing with kids are, that they see things that grown ups don't think about. And some of the kids had more fun looking out of the window, than looking at the things inside.

My finals are getting closer, and Im studying too. Some times I just get so tired of reading all the time. Then it's nice to take out my scrapbooking stuff and work on my Kenya scrapbook.

This weekend Dorthea and Roald will come to visit. That will be fun!
