Im home....

I made it back to Norway safely:-) My travels went very well. The only thing that wasn't good was the airplane food, which made my tummy a little sick... My stomach didn't agree with the food, as Emme would put it.

Now Im home, and looking forward to sleeping in a bed after sitting on an airplane for so long!

GOOD NIGHT everybody... or should I say good morning to all in the US!?! lol

Miss you already

Canoe trip

This Tuesday Leslie suggested that we should go on an adventure. She had heard about a place where you could rent canoes and go down the red river (Which is not to far away from where we live).

When we got there the guy told us that the trip could take us 4-5 hours, so Leslie and I were looking at each other with big eyes. How are we going to do that with two canoes, and 3 kids, without snacks? We were expecting to rent canoes for about an hour, so we didn't bring any food. But we decided to be brave and just go anyway...

But then when we got on the buss, the craziness began. The buss driver was a real jerk, and talked to us in a really rude way. He was driving with the doors of the bus open, didn't obey the traffic rules, and stopped in the middle of the woods and told us to get out... And then the other people in the bus laughed, so he just kept going. Leslie was not really happy(neither was I), and suddenly he told everybody in a loud voice... "The mom in the back do not want to look up at me. She must be really angry"

And when we got to the river, instead of parking, the bus driver started making donuts and 8's with the bus(and a trailer behind) We just wanted to get out, and get started on our canoe trip, and thought he was being ridiculous.

But as soon as we got in the canoes we had a really great time. The kids were really good, and we paddled for about 3,5 hours... It was really fun. Leslie and I were a little bit nervous that we weren't going to make it all the way. But we paddled and paddled and finally we saw the stop sign that told us we were at the end. Hurrah!

"Spider on board!" That was Jacks comment when he saw this big spider. First he saw spider, and I killed it. Then right after that we found this one... I think it must have fallen into our canoe when we went under some big trees, where we had to bow our head so the branches didn't get us.

There was a butterfly that landed on Jacks safety jacket :-) A little bit hard to see in this picture... We also saw a crane, a beaver, a snake, fish and lots of turtles

Poem

Today I got a very nice card in the mail from Leslie's mom, Karen. She wrote me a poem as a congratulation for getting into medical school this year. I thought it was so neat that I wanted to share it will all of you (I hope you don't mind Karen...)

It's a wonderful day
I woke up to hear daughter Leslie say
"AUD HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO MEDICAL SCHOOL!"
What joyous news and what can we give you
A doctor coat?
A stethescope?
You have given us so much:
Those clever, thoughtful Norwegian greetings
the beautiful Norwegian mittens
that very pretty handmade butterfly plate
The LOVE and CARE you have shown
our family especially Emme, Erik and Jack
The example you've shown as a young
Christian woman, the sense of hope in
the future trough your healing hands
and heart and spirit.

What gladness reigns at your good news
you will be a wonderful doctor.
with love and every-good wish for your future
And thanks to God who has given you the
desire of your heart
- Ron and Karen

I just want to say thank you so much. I am really blessed that have both a norwegian and an american family! I love you so much, and I will miss all of you :-) I really hope you will come and see me in Norway sometime, because you are very VERY welcome. Now I know for sure that I will be in Bergen for the next six years...

We were watching the 4th of July parade...

There were some really cool old cars, this is just one of them

At the end of the parade we got free ice cream...
