Hello everybody!
Im not dead... but it’s hard to get on the internet. There is only one line, and often it doesn’t work, or it is so very slow, that it takes 2 minutes to open one email So that’s why I m not writing a lot. We are also very busy. In the weeks we have bible study from 8am- lunch. And in the afternoons or evenings we go different places, to help the missionaries, to see something special or just to the town were there is a marked and you can buy the most necessary things. Wherever we go, people point at us an call us “Mzungu”, which means white person. Lots of children yell “Haavearyou” we almost feel like famous people. It was very funny in the beginning, but we are starting to get more annoyed by it. You can blend in with the mass anywhere. Our white skin is drawing lots of attention.
We have also experienced the African daily life. Last weekend 5 from my group(me included) when out into the mountains with one of the missionaries. It was kind of a seminar where the local people learned about Jesus, but they also teach the women about their rights. Another important subject is health and how to avoid common diseases. After it got dark we put up a generator, projector and video player, and then they could watch the Jesus movie in their own language. It was amazing. About 300 people gathered in a small classroom to watch movies. They were almost sitting on top of each other. This was in a village were there is no electricity or running water(in the houses). It’s amazing to see how they live with so little. They are very poor, but they are full laughter and joy. These people are thirsting after the message of Jesus. We are selling books, and they are crazy about them. It is so special to see how much Jesus means to them. They are almost fighting to have a testimony at the Sunday services. Everybody wants to tell about their saviour.
One fantastic thing that I just have to mentions from our trip up in the mountains is the sky of stars. It was just amazing to lie in the grass and look up at the million of lights. With no electricity in miles around, it’s just increadible!

det va kjekt å hørra i frå deg igjen. e fint å sjå at du he det kjekt. det virke som det e og kjeme te å bli veldig lærerikt når du e der nere. håbe du he det fint, he heima he dar vore litt snø, men ikkje mye.

What is in that bowl and what does it taste like? Are there many orphans that you are dealing with and who supports them. Is there adoption in Kenya or do children without parents need to look outside of Kenya for support? What does it cost to support a child in Africa and what does that provide? Do many children make it through grade school education much less secondary school? Keep smiling and showing the love of Jesus to everyone you meet - but stay away from those giraffes without a proper escort! hehe
You are in our prayers and we hope you are learning many things about how to help the poor and needy in a way that brings them the most benefit.

I will try to give you(Haywards) a short answear to the question now. But we are about to leave to go to another place called Chesta. So I don't have much time.
In the town were we stay right now there are steet boys, or orphans. Their parents are maybe dead, or they are treating them so bad that they ran away from their home. Alcoholism is a big problem here. The streetboys here get food at the lutheran church every wednesday and every sunday. they are also starting a new project were they will take about 15 young boys away from the street and put them in a home were they will provide shelter and food, and offer them the opurtunity to go to school. But it is only if the boys stop sniffing glue and are willing to give up their old life with stealing and stuff like that. So there is something going on here. But unfortunately there are very many children that lives a hard life. I dont know exactly how much it would cost to support one child. But most people in this area live on less than a dollar a day. They are very very poor here. Everyday when we meet people they ask us to give them something.
But I really have to go now. Thanks for writing me a note. I was thinking about you all today. Was it thanksgiving yesterday? Tell everybody hi from me!!!

Hey Audie! WOW! Sounds like you're having an awesome time! I will be there in a month. The first week I"m there I"ll be at a homeschool conference. Been thinking and praying for you and miss you tons. I had my first African meal yesterday...likes a lot like the pic..part of it! :) I know you are being used in so many ways by the Lord. Happy last day of November Aud! Can you believe that you have been there for over a month already? Time really does go so quickly.
We missed you at Thanksgiving. The wonderful news is that my Mom is fine. The scary part was watching her try and get better in the hospital over Thanksgiving (Thursday - Saturday). She and my father had come down to spend Thanksgiving with us and within two days she got sick. My brother and sisters drove down on Saturday to see her...so, in truth...almost all of us were together for the holiday (although Jack, Emme, and Erik thought leaving Aunts, Uncles, and cousins back in WI/MN was a terrible idea!).
We pray for you every day! Just remember to tell everyone that God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or even imagine (Ephesians 3:20)!
