Im sorry that I havent updated the blog in so long. There is not so many places where I can get on the internet here. And we are also very busy. I cant belive that we have been in africa for over 2 weeks already. First we went to Moshi in Tanzania for East Africa Cup. That is a big soccer turnament for young girls and boys. There were teams from 5 different african countries that participated. It was great to see how sports can bring people from different places together. There was also a lot of focus on education and seminars during the morning hours. The motto for the tournament is: Empowering youth through sports.
After East Africa cup we went to Nairobi for a couple of days. We went to see the CHRISC work there. They have a project called Fanaka. Its a streetkids program that helps youth throught sports and other activities. They are making pretty necklages, that they can sell to get some money. They are also teaching them important life skills that they can use to survive in life. They have dancing classes, computer clasees, a library. A place where the kids can come in and rest from the slum areas. Its really great to see how the CHRISC projects really are helping people.
We also had a day for sighseeing, and visiting friends in Nairobi. We went to Carnivore, the giraff cente, animal orphanage, and Karen. We stayed two night at the norwegian school in Norway. It was so great to meet people again(I was there two years ago). We also met some friends from my hometown in Norway.
Now we are in a little town called Voi. We are helping with sports activities, and participate in the CHRISC work here. We are having a lot of fun, and we meet a lot of nice people. But we also get tired, because its so hot here, and we speak another language than usuall. And we stay up to late at night to watch the world cup and play games.
Today we have been to a local church, and later today we will sleep in the villag at some people's house. Im sure that it will be quite an experience.
Its hard for me to upload pictures now, but I will put some up when I go back to Norway.
Mungu akubariki
God bless you all
