Craziness on the bus

Something really crazy happened on the bus on Friday night. I was going to visit someone, and had to take a bus to go there... Well everything was quiet on the bus, and people were getting on and off as usual. Right in front of us there was a young guy with a dog, and he looked like he was sleeping. His leg was blocking the middle of the bus, so when people were passing him, they had to watch their steps. Beate and I had a little quiet discussion about who would be the first to trip over his foot.

When we were halfway there, suddenly the guy in front of us got up very fast and pushed the stop button. Unfortunately it was a little bit to late, and we had already passed his bus stop.

This made him really upset, so he started yelling to the bus driver. He wanted the bus driver to stop and let him off. In Norway there is a law, that don't allow buses to stop where ever. So the bus driver just kept driving, and was going to stop at the next stop.

This made the person really really mad. So he went up to the front and threatened the bus driver. He said that he wanted his money back. And when the bus driver wouldn't give him money, he said he was going to take all his money.

People at the buss started shouting to the guy, that he would have to sit down and wait for the next stop. This distracted the guy to move backwards in the bus. Before he started shouting at the bus driver again. At this time the bus driver had pulled over to the side of the road, and he was trying to call for emergency assistance.

It was crazy!

We were waiting for about 5 minutes while the whole drama was going on. The bus driver and the people tried to calm the guy and keep him on the bus until there would be some assistance. But the guy wouldn't calm down. He was yelling and wanted to get off the bus. At the end the bus driver too got really mad, and he went over to the guy and told him to behave. I don't think he was going to do anything to the guy, but it looked like it was going to be a really big fight. Right there, right then.... And we were sitting right behind at the next seat. I was scared!

So people tried to calm both the guy and the bus driver. And at the end the bus driver realized that he would have to let the man off the bus and just continue. But we could tell that he was angry and scared. He told us that someone had threatened him before and taken all his money...

The whole episode has made me think about how crazy people can act. It was easy to tell that the guy was on drugs or something. But what would have happened if he had carried a gun. I don't think he would have hesitated to use it in that situation. Or even if he had a knife he could have hurt a lot of people.

I am really glad that nobody got hurt, and I hope nothing like that happens again.
