Baseball

I have never played baseball. Or at least not a baseball game. I throw and catch a little bit with the boys. One time I threw the ball to Erik, he got upset because it was not a good throw. But then I heard Jack telling Erik: "It's OKEY, Aud is not a good thrower..." lol. I was just laughing, because I really don't know how to throw a ball very far! But I have understood that baseball is a very important sport in the US. And the boys really love it. So, I better learn the rules soon. After going to a couple of games I understand more and more. But for those that are not really familiar with baseball, here is a short explanation from Wikipedia...

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each. The goal is to score runs by hitting a thrown ball with a bat and touching a series of four bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or diamond. Players on one team (the batting team) take turns hitting against the pitcher of the other team (the fielding team), which tries to stop them from scoring runs by getting hitters out in any of several ways. A player on the batting team can stop at any of the bases and later advance via a teammate's hit or other means. The teams switch between batting and fielding whenever the fielding team records three outs. One turn at bat for each team constitutes an inning; nine innings make up a professional game. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins.(from Wikipedia)

Erik and Jack are playing in an all stars tournament. They had their first game on saturday and won 17-16...

Erik batting... He hit a home-run!

Here comes an update from my stay in Tennessee so far. I have been here for almost 3 weeks and the time has gone by so fast. The weather has been changing a little. But most of the time it's very hot and sunny. The two last days its been over 100 F (37C) in the middle of the day. It's almost too hot to be outside. And if you are outside, you have to make sure you drink a lot so you don't get dehydrated.

Last night when I got home from the boys baseball-practice. I took the dogs for a walk on a path in our neighborhood. I really enjoyed it. It was just cooling down outside, and starting to get dark. All around me I saw small fireflies send rays of lights. Almost like small stars. I could hear the crickets and frogs from the pond, and as I got closer I could hear them jump into the water. Sometimes it's just nice to treasure the moment, and it was a great summer night :-)

We are staying very busy and the days goes very fast. Yesterday I went down to Nashville with the kids and we had a great time at the Adventure Science Center. It's a kids museum with lots of cool stuff. It's like a really big playground with all kind of thing you can do. Their new exhibition was a spacewalk. The kids had to put gear on, (almost like mountain climbing gear) and then there is a long rope that pulls you up in the air. It's supposed to teach the kids about outer-space and what its like to move out there.

After that we went exploring at a fort right next to the science museum. It's called Fort Negley and was used during the Battle of Nashville (December 15 &16 1864).

To make a long blog short I will just summarize some of the stuff we have done so far this summer... exploring the Mammoth Cave, Nashville Zoo, programs at the library, Tball games, softball games, Track meets, 3 D Movie "UP", swimming, parks, crafts, Hobby Lobby bug traps, water fights, movie nights, Walmart, Chance of Commands, restaurants, shopping, tornado warnings, knitting...

I don't feel like blogging all the time, but I jsut wanted to give you all a little update... I will try to post some pictures later... Enjoy the summer everybody!
